Dasher's home page
Description:
Dasher is an interface for text entry driven by natural continuous pointing gestures, based on information theory. Dasher is a competitive text-entry system wherever a full-size keyboard cannot be used, and is available on numerous platforms e.g. UNIX and Win32.
We recommend looking at the Dasher website http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/dasher for explanation and in-action videos of Dasher.
Supported devices:
iPhone (3G), iPhone (3GS), iPhone (original), iPod Touch (1st gen), iPod Touch (2nd gen)
Here's what needs to be tested:
Besides (preferably reproducible:-) ) bug reports and RFEs of all sorts, we're particularly interested in...
(a) what input method (i.e. mode of controlling Dasher) you find fastest/most effective (perhaps in different circumstances), including any suggestions for improvements / useful modes we may have missed;
(b) testing on a variety of devices - as the only one we have here is a 2nd gen iPod Touch. Although Dasher doesn't use any special hardware features (e.g. GPS/Camera), differences in available memory and CPU power may be significant, and it'd be good to hear whether/what different values of the "display detail" setting (in the misc panel) work (or don't!) for people....
